Title: Beginning PHP 5 and MySQL E-Commerce: From Novice to Professional
Publisher: Apress
Authors: Cristian Darie, Mihai Bucica
Rating: 5/5
This book is one of the best books I have ever read about PHP and MySQL. The examples are great and the way the author shows you step by step how to create a complete E-commerce site is so simple than even someone like me with little knowledge of PHP was able to follow the book with not problems. In this book you will learn a lot of information than other books about PHP will not give you.
The examples work and the final product is an actual site that with little modification you can customized for you or for one of your clients.
I always wanted to know how to incorporate paypal as the payment method and this books shows you exactly what you need to know. There is so much good stuff in this book than I going to just tell you this, YOU MUST BUY THIS BOOK if you are serious about PHP and MySQL e-commerce programming.
The book is well written, clear, and easy to follow. The final project is a real life example of an ecommerce site. I would recommend this book to any one trying to create an ecommerce site using PHP and MySQL. The only problem is that I can only give it a 5 out of 5 stars, but I believe it should be 5+ stars, a GREAT BOOK TO HAVE!!

Title: The Practical SQL Handbook: Using Structured Query Language (3rd Edition)
Publisher: Pearson Education
Authors: Judith S. Bowman, Sandra L. Emerson, Marcy Darnovsky
Rating: 5/5
I have recommended this book to several of my colleagues,
and everyone has found it to be an excellent step-by-step
explanation of the ANSI SQL language - perfect as a tutorial
or a refresher. Yet, unlike many tutorials, it goes beyond
the basics, giving pointers on how to work around "tricky"
design issues.
Title: Web Database Applications with PHP & MySQL, 2nd Edition
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Hugh E. Williams
Rating: 5/5
A thorough and well-written cookbook for building a web shopping cart using PHP and MySQL. The authors assume some programming background but also cover fundamentals of database design and software engineering. A great choice for someone relatively new to applications programming. If you're an experienced programmer looking for a more streamlined reference manual, I recommend O'Reilly's "Programming PHP" instead.

Title: Oracle Pl/SQL Programming (Oracle Series)
Publisher: Oracle Pr
Authors: Scott Urman, Tim Smith
Rating: 5/5
This book should be standard for computer programming language books. I have gone to several times and it has never failed me. It has very clear explanations and examples which almost write out the code for you. I carry it everywhere. It is the sole Oracle PL/SQL programming reference I use.
Title: MCDBA SQL Server 2000 All-in-One Exam Guide (Book/CD Set)
Publisher: McGraw-Hill Companies
Authors: Dave Perkovich
Rating: 2/5
There certainly is a growing market for exam guides; unfortunately many publishers are repackaging their existing Beginner's Guides to try to fill the void. This book is an EXCELLENT guide for someone wanting to become a DBA, or to fill the gaps in their own experiential database. The downside is that this book will NOT prepare you for the exams - in fact, it doesn't even come close. Cheers for a easy-to-read book, but Jeers for misleading the buyer.
Title: Creating Interactive Web Sites with PHP and Web Services
Publisher: Sybex
Authors: Eric Rosebrock, Eric Rosebrock, Sybex
Rating: 1/5
This book was great! There were some slight errors, along with any book that you would find on the market, but this book was clearly a great read and I found it most valuable.
Title: Sams Teach Yourself SQL in 10 Minutes, Third Edition
Publisher: Sams
Authors: Ben Forta
Rating: 5/5
Ben Forta's SQL in 10 Minutes is a concise, easy-to-understand book. I'm going to keep it handy as a reference/teaching tool for use with friends and co-workers. I am pleasantly surprised that such a small book covers SQL so well.
Title: Web Database Applications with PHP & MySQL, 2nd Edition
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Hugh E. Williams
Rating: 5/5
I really liked this book as a tutorial on how to write apps in PHP. I've done so in Javascript, and needed to learn the change-over from the ground-up. This book provided me with what I needed. I thought it was really clear and well written.
