Title: Oracle PL/SQL Programming, Third Edition
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Steven Feuerstein
Rating: 5/5
O'Reilly brought together two writers to create the definitive PL/SQL reference. They succeeded masterfully. Not much else to say other than if you're looking for just one book on this subject, this is the one to get.
Title: PHP Advanced for the World Wide Web Visual QuickPro Guide
Publisher: Peachpit Press
Authors: Larry Ullman
Rating: 5/5
When you think of technical writers, Larry is the man. This book is well designed and laid out. This reminds me raising alpacas and the ease associated with it. Woogie. Go out buy this book!
Title: Php Fast & Easy Web Development (Fast & Easy Web Development)
Publisher: Premier Press
Authors: Julie C. Meloni
Rating: 4/5
Fantastic book, with working examples and footnotes. It also contains a CD with the necessery software to install Apache, PHP, and mySQL to a personal computer, allowing the reader to immediately dive into learning the language. Saves a lot of time if you ask me. Although the book doesn't explain every command from top to bottom, you will learn the easy stuff very quickly and come aware of PHP's potentiality. The book has everything a beginning writer needs and I recomend they buy this before any other book. But for a slightly more experience developer it has little to offer. And for some reason, the author has left a few important topics totally uncovered and some topics only briefly introduced. Still, this doesn't change the fact that it's a great book!! If you wanna start writing PHP, this is the best way to go.
Title: SQL Server 2000 Stored Procedure Programming
Publisher: Osborne/McGraw-Hill
Authors: Dejan Sunderic, Tom Woodhead
Rating: 5/5
The best thing about this book is that the author explains why you should do certain things. It explains how SQL Server works to process your request. This is the best SQL book I have read.
Title: Joe Celko's SQL for Smarties: Advanced SQL Programming (The Morgan Kaufmann Series in Data Management Systems)
Publisher: Morgan Kaufmann
Authors: Joe Celko
Rating: 5/5
Joe Celko knows SQL. He may make some typos as a writer but make no mistake... this guy knows what he's talking about. He knows the language and the mechanics of the major database engines. But more importantly, he understands the logic of it all. Some of his SQL moves are simply brilliant.I develop enterprise applications and am called upon now and then to create some very challenging SQL. Celko has bailed me out several times. I have the book as a reference source right next to my database reference manuals. He is full of ideas and often times I am looking for an idea, not a recipe. This is a book for people who have a good knowledge of SQL. It will stimulate your thinking and programming. It isn't a book for beginners. In the right hands, SQL for Smarties will really add some sizzle to your SQL coding.Brianne Elizabeth Corbett - IBM Global Services
Title: Programming PHP
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Rasmus Lerdorf, Kevin Tatroe
Rating: 5/5
Hi all. This is the first text that I've ever bothered to review on Amazon, but I do so now because I think that this book is *very* under-rated. This book is a SOLID 5 STAR INTRODUCTION TO PHP for the experienced programmer. If you already know perl or java, this book is a ultra-high-speed yet thoroughly comprehensible survey of PHP syntax and usage. Very complete treatment of the language. My only caveat: If you have no programming background, i would imagine that it may be a little terse.
Title: Oracle PL/SQL 101
Publisher: McGraw-Hill Osborne Media
Authors: Christopher Allen
Rating: 5/5
If you want to learn more about SQL, this book is the way to go. I used it to pass the first SQL & PL/SQL exam for OCP certification. It is clearly written, with lots of exercises. The exercises relate to real-life situations, so it is easy to transfer the techniques they demonstrate over to your own work.An excellent book!

Title: Inside Microsoft SQL Server 7.0
Publisher: Microsoft Press
Authors: Ron Soukup, Kalen Delaney
Rating: 5/5
This book is really good period. I have read a book on SQL admin for 70-028 exam by Sybex, but I only understood half of it since I am a newbie to DB even though Sybex's study guide is well known as a good book. I have read this MS SQL Inside book upto second chapters, and it gave me a wonderful understanding of what DBMS and how MSSQL works in DBMS world. You should get this either you are working on DBA or you already are one.
Title: Creating Interactive Web Sites with PHP and Web Services
Publisher: Sybex
Authors: Eric Rosebrock, Eric Rosebrock, Sybex
Rating: 3/5
A good book, I am intrigued in how he uses PHP. I keep the book because it gives a good understanding of how to use PHP in a professional manner. Although it has a ton of typos and examples which need code to make them work. I made them work which expanded my knowledge of PHP and MySQL. I am half way through the book hopefully the typo's will get less.
